Collaborations

SeaLife loves to collaborate!

                                      It can help by:

  • Evaluating and designing legal and institutional structures.

  • Reviewing domestic legislation in light of international commitments.

  • Translating scientific concepts into legal language.

  • Developing policy and implementation strategies.

  • Navigating the alphabet soup of international bodies and agreements.

Two examples of collaboration stand out for their scale and interdisciplinarity. SeaLife was part of a team of five experts in policy, education, and science, tasked with advancing sawfish research and protections at the regional forums and two priority countries in the Caribbean. The project culminated in ministerial-level meetings where the experts made their case for legislative amendments targeting existing gaps. SeaLife was also a member of another team of five experts in science, project management, and policy dedicated to launching a project based on a regional action plan focused on the Northwest Atlantic leatherback sea turtle and four priority countries in the wider Caribbean region.
